Relocation decisions fail on lifestyle more often than on tax. This is a plain calendar of what there is to do across a Georgian year, so you can judge whether you would actually enjoy living here.
Winter
Skiing and snowboarding in Gudauri and Bakuriani, ski touring for the more serious, sulphur baths in Tbilisi, and the long indoor dinner season that Georgian food is built for.
Spring and autumn
The best hiking months and the best time for Kakheti. Autumn is harvest, which is the closest thing Georgia has to a national celebration, and spring opens up the lower mountain trails before the high passes clear.
Summer
The Black Sea coast, high mountain treks in Svaneti and Tusheti, paragliding, rafting and festivals. Tbilisi gets hot, which is why a lot of residents leave the city on weekends.
Every week, regardless
The parts that make it a place to live rather than visit:
- Natural wine bars and supra dinners
- Gyms, padel, tennis, climbing and yoga studios
- Galleries, theatre, opera and film
- Markets, cooking classes and coffee culture
- Founder dinners and coworking in the capital
